Cobalt Sensor

Detect Cobalt in Real Time

Cobalt can enter the water system from a number of sources including mining activities and runoff.  Health impact on humans starts at about 100 ppb.  Real time detection can reduce the chemicals needed to remove cobalt from the water and thereby reduce the cost of cleaning the water discharged from a mining site.

Cobalt usually occurs in the environment in association with other metals such as copper, nickel, manganese, and arsenic.  Cobalt is released into the environment from mining and processing activities, the production of alloys and chemicals, sewage effluents, urban run-off and agricultural run-off. While the body uses trace amounts of cobalt, high amounts are toxic for most organisms, and therefor cobalt in water is important to monitor and treat. The amount of cobalt allowed in discharge will vary from site to site.

AquaValid Sensor

The AquaValid sensor can connect to any pipe or flowing system, and monitor on a real time basis for up to five metals. The sensor is fully automated, handling sample taking and preparation without human intervention. Detecting into the PPB, the sensor can handle water from heavy industrial matrices to drinking water applications.
